New York Probate Attorney Kimberly Schechter was invited by the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) to speak as a faculty member during the "What You Need to Know as a Guardian Ad Litem 2016" seminar in Melville, New York on May 17th. In particular, she presented the section titled Probate (Uncontested and Contested) and Administration Proceedings. The nearly-hour-long portion covered all aspects of probate that could concern a guardian ad litem, including due execution, objections to probate, intestate proceedings, and more.
The program overall allowed attendees to discover the importance and the roles of a guardian ad litem (GAL) throughout a four-hour seminar period. Other NYSBA faculty and guest speakers covered a variety of related topics, including evaluating a ward's best interests, compensation limits, and the examination of trust accounting schedules. People in attendance could also receive a total of 4.5 MCLE Credits.
