Donald Novick

Background
Donald Novick was born in Huntington, New York. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973. He attended Fordham University School of Law where he was published in the Fordham Urban Law Journal and received his Juris Doctorate in 1977. He is also admitted to practice in the Southern and Eastern Districts of the United States District Court and the United States Tax Court.
Early in his career, Mr. Novick served as a Law Assistant in the Suffolk County Surrogate's Court. He was appointed Law Secretary to the Suffolk County Surrogate in 1979 and went on to serve as Chief Law Assistant in the Surrogate's Court from 1980-1981. In 1982 Donald went into private practice and has since served as Counsel for the Suffolk County Public Administrator.
Donald regularly lectures to attorneys throughout New York State and the country, including to the 2006 New York State Bar Association, Trust & Estate Law Section. He has appeared as an expert in Estate Administration on MSNBC and Fox News Channel.
With 30 years legal experience, Mr. Novick has established himself as a noted authority in the area of Trusts and Estates. A fierce and effective litigator, he has devoted much of his practice to protecting the inheritance rights of his clients. Donald has obtained the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell (AV), in recognition of his expertise and reputation among the members of the bar and the judiciary. He has handled both jury and non-jury trials, contested probate and administration, accounting and discovery proceedings in all of the Surrogates Courts in the State of New York.
Donald is a true pioneer in his area of practice. In the Suffolk County Surrogate's Court he recently concluded the first jury trial in approximately four years, overturning a prior verdict and setting aside an invalid will.
Practice Areas
Donald practices in the areas of Trust and Estate Litigation, Probate and Real Estate. He also frequently serves as trial counsel in a broad range of litigated matters in all of the Supreme Courts in the New York Metropolitan area. In addition, Donald has extensive experience in Real Estate Law. He has handled both residential and commercial real estate transactions and represented mortgage companies and banks.

Mr. Novick is an active member of the Suffolk County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association where he sits on the Trusts and Estates Litigation Sub-Committee, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Trusts & Estates Committee, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.
